KIVI visit observatory Middelburg
Visit Volkssterrenwacht Philippus Lansbergen in Middelburg
KIVI members Charles Tempelman and Jan Maas are volunteer staff at the observatory in Middelburg. They invite you to come and listen and watch a full evening programme with a lecture and a tour of the Lipperhey museum, especially for KIVI members (and possibly their guest). the lecture and tour will be given by other observatory staff. The lecture will be about astronomy in general, with extra attention to some technical aspects regarding observation through telescopes. The museum will discuss the invention of the telescope by Middelburg spectacle maker Hans Lipperhey in 1608 and its impact on astronomy.
If the weather is clear, there will then be an opportunity to look at the moon, planets or stars through a telescope.
