Ing Paul Marinissen, director of Zeeuwse Reinigingsdienst B.V. and chairman of KIVI Region Zeeland, will give a presentation on "household waste in Zeeland". Among other things, he will discuss the different ways in which household waste is collected in Zeeland (door-to-door/environmental centres). He will also explain where and how Zeeland's waste is processed and what the challenges are for the coming years.

Zeeland has many different household waste collection systems. For instance, there are municipalities that use a DIFTAR system, which requires payment for emptying the waste container each time. There are also municipalities that still have the residual waste container collected only once a month. And there are municipalities where plastic packaging waste, cans and drinks cartons are actually collected together with the residual waste to be offered at AVR's post-separation plant in Rotterdam. Why these differences and with what results?

Did you know that about 70% of what ends up in Zeeland's residual waste containers is perfectly recyclable.

What actually happens to all those separately collected waste streams? Where does it go and what do we do with it?

This presentation is very informative for every Zeelander who wants to know something about waste collection in his own area. The presentation will be delivered digitally via MS TEAMS.
