The Sand Motor
Description
Dykes and dunes protect our little country from floods. But for how much longer? The climate is changing, sea levels are rising and the Netherlands is getting lower.
To make sure we can still cope in 200 years, innovative solutions like the Sand Motor are necessary. This is a huge sand buffer off the coast the size of 256 football fields. How does this Motor guarantee dry feet? Where does the sand come from? And how does this buffer behave under the influence of waves and currents?
