Description

Drones have become an integral part of our lives. On TV and in films, they provide stunning shots from above. How does a drone actually stay so steady in the air? The aviation industry is experimenting with unmanned cargo drones. Will passengers soon also be seen as air cargo and flown remotely controlled from A to B? The Netherlands has strict regulations for flying drones: doesn't this hinder technological development?

Speakers:

- Dr Hans Heerkens, researcher (UT) specialising in the aviation industry and a passionate aviation journalist. He chairs the Platform for Unmanned Cargo Aircraft.

- Ramy Hashem MSc, affiliated with the Robotics & Mechatronics department (UT). He explains how a drone stays in the air.

- Prof Michiel Heldeweg, professor of Law, Governance & Technology (UT) talks about constraints and free space in the regulatory landscape.

In addition, Dr Abeje Mersha (Saxion) provides a cool demo with various drones. See on link below TEDx Saxion.
