Description

KIVI NIRIA Week 2010
16 - 18 February 2010, University of Twente

KIVI NIRIA Students Twente takes the initiative to organise interesting activities during three consecutive days to bring KIVI NIRIA even more to the attention of students, teachers and staff of the University of Twente. During this week, various activities will show students and staff what KIVI NIRIA stands for with the aim of creating enthusiasm.

The programme is as follows:

Tuesday 16 February 2010:
This day will be dedicated to workshops given by KIVI NIRIA on a regular basis. The workshops will focus on so-called soft skills: skills that technical students usually do not learn during their studies, but are certainly important for their development. Two workshops will be organised, namely the Speedreading workshop (by Gazing Performance) and the Presenting workshop in collaboration with USG Innotiv. In this workshop, students from all kinds of technical studies will learn how to present themselves, both in business and informal settings. During the subsequent drinks, students can further exchange their acquired knowledge.

Wednesday 17 February 2010:
The second day of the KIVI NIRIA Week is dedicated to networking. After all, KIVI NIRIA's strength is its large network of engineers. Through speed dating, this comes to the fore. In speeddating, several KIVI NIRIA members with a specialism in the technical field are invited. The principle of speed dating means that students can ask their questions about career perspectives, subject matter or the company in rounds past each specialist. With a personal approach, students will be more open to asking substantive questions and therefore learn more about the specialism and the company than when visiting a career fair. While enjoying a drink and snack, students can continue networking during the closing drinks.

Thursday 18 February 2010:
As every year, KIVI NIRIA Students will organise the science quiz at the University of Twente. This activity will be a nice ending to the KIVI NIRIA Week, where every study can participate with a (selected) group and compete against other studies. The questions will be prepared by UT departments, KIVI NIRIA departments but also by industry. The mix of technical knowledge and informality will make students realise that KIVI NIRIA is not just a stately club, but certainly adds something real.

As every day during KIVI NIRIA week, participants will also be invited to a closing drink after the Science Quiz
