Acquisition of the JSF
Description
Purchase of the JSF:
The quality of the aircraft and of the decision-making process
The purchase of a successor to the Dutch Air Force's F-16 jet fighters is becoming increasingly politically controversial. Parliamentarians complain that they are not being properly informed by the Ministry of Defence and that the air force has already opted for the US Joint Strike Fighter (JSF). But how careful has the Lower House itself been?
For a purchase worth billions of euros, the decision-making process seems remarkably poor. Will the Netherlands get the best aircraft in the end? And which of the candidates is actually the best; the JSF, the Saab Gripen, the Dassault Rafale or the Eurofighter Typhoon?
Hans Heerkens (Faculty of Management & Governance) addresses these questions during a current affairs lecture on Wednesday 23 March.
This activity is organised by KIVI NIRIA Students Twente in cooperation the Aerospace Engineering Department and W.S.G. Isaac Newton.
