Science Café: Predicting the future with algorithms
Science Café: Predicting the future with algorithms
Algorithms are everywhere these days: they not only determine what you see on Facebook and find on Google, they can also be helpful in planning maintenance on the railway network, for instance. Algorithms can look into the future, as it were, and indicate where breakdowns will occur. In this Science Café, Prof Mariëlle Stoelinga (Professor of Risk Management for High-tech systems, UT) talks more about algorithms. How exactly do they work? What is their predictive power? And what are the downsides?
This activity is organised in collaboration with Studium Generale.
Date: Thursday 14 April 20:00-22:00
