Inspiring conversations

Joanna Meyboom brought the grand KIVI building back to life in the waning days of corona on Friday afternoon, July 17, with the first meeting of the 'inspiring conversations' series. KIVI invites young people to be inspired by top business, political and civil society figures. It kicked off with a small but very interested group of millennials from all parts of the Netherlands. Joanne took us through the course of her multifaceted career, which has led through many continents and diverse cultures. Change, tackling and challenges are recurring concepts. With apt statements like "Mistakes are allowed", "A happy club must first be a healthy club", "The Netherlands is lagging far behind; a quota for women at the top is wise" and "Talk to people a lot, that enriches enormously", she managed to captivate all participants in the dialogue until well past the agreed end time.
Inspiring talks, "at Engineers at the Work Table".
KIVI gives young (prospective) members the chance to talk to CEOs top officials, top scientists and politicians "at the working table" about current social developments and their organisation's involvement in them. This dialogue provides insight into how engineers look at general situations with their technical perspective....
Leading a company or association. Differences and similarities
Although corona does not make live meetings easy, for the first session with Joanne Meyboom on 17 July at KIVI in The Hague, Director of Smart Infrastructure at Siemens Nederland N.V. AND President of KIVI, the idea is that as a member you will be seated at 'the working table'. After a short welcome round, Joanne will take you through her work as a techie in a top position with an emphasis on Leading a company or association. Differences and similarities. Toon Buddingh will act as facilitator and moderator. The facilitator will, if necessary, keep an eye on the discussion line and steer for dialogue.
Topics that may come up are:
- The speaker's question for him/her
- A look at today's agenda, culminating in the 'major current issues of the moment'
- A reflection of the major social events and his/her work on them
- Possibly a theme or topic introduced by the speaker.
- The question to the speaker after him/her and the reason why that person has been chosen
- Two-thirds of the session space for discussion.
Timing
For the first session with Joanne Meyboom, an afternoon session has been chosen, but this can change to give everyone a chance. A session will last about 1.5 to 2 hours.
Number of participants
To keep the meeting interactive, participation is limited to a maximum of 15 participants, of which at least 10 are KIVI members plus the speaker and facilitator. If this ratio is not correct, you may be excluded. Of course, you will be informed in good time, via e-mail.
Registration
Because the number of participants per session is limited, if you have participated in an inspiring discussion session before, you may be excluded by transfer.
