The corona crisis is hitting the world and the Netherlands hard. Many countries are shutting down, the economy is stagnating and the medical sector is working overtime for our health. If the crisis continues for a few more weeks and expands further, shortages may start to occur. Not only because of higher demand for familiar products such as mouth caps, but also because of the need for possibly new products or new applications.

An example: As early as 16 March, a post came along of someone trying to develop a simple respirator at short notice and then produce large numbers of them. He only lacked knowledge in some parts to quickly, safely and soundly assemble such a product. Currently, old respirators and those of the Ministry of Defence are being made available. This requires maintenance. However, this kind of problem can also arise in many other areas.

That is where we as an association with 18,000 members can potentially make a significant difference. Also because many of you are working somewhere where that knowledge is already deployed and in some cases are sitting at home due to drop in demand. Need for support for the vital sectors can arise in many areas. From ICT to transport and logistics, from medical technology to telecommunications and from 3D printing to CAD/CAM. Also, knowledge from a completely different sector might contribute to a solution. So, as a member, you can contribute to this crisis!
By giving a brief opinion, by helping to find a solution or by deploying your company's knowledge and products on issues that are very much needed.
