About the Prince Friso Engineering Award

Every year, the Royal Netherlands Society of Engineers (KIVI) awards the prestigious Prince Friso Engineer Prize to an engineer who excels in expertise, innovation, social impact, entrepreneurship and ambassadorship. This will take place during the Day of the Engineer.

This award, named after the late Prince Friso, brother of King Willem-Alexander, honours his legacy as an engineer in mechanical and aerospace engineering, and his valued membership at KIVI.

Martijn Otten wins twelfth Prince Friso Engineering Award 2026

Martijn Otten has won the Prince Friso Engineering Award 2026. The jury particularly praised his exceptional technical depth, entrepreneurship and social commitment.

Host Prince Friso Ingenieursprijs

Jeroen has been a member of the KIVI Executive Board since December 2023 and has been a KIVI member since 1990. He studied Electrical Power Engineering and Business Economics, is Global Director HSSEQ at Koppert and chairs, among others, the Governance Code for Safe Energy Networks and the Energy Safety Festival. As a connector between industry, education and academia, he is the perfect host for this award ceremony.

Annual ceremony

Since 2015, a professional jury has annually awarded the Prince Friso Engineering Award to an outstanding engineer. The audience award and the KIVI Engineering Student Team Award, an incentive prize for students, are also awarded.
