During the months of September and October, the Asset Management & Maintenance department will visit 2 power plants. Influenced by the energy transition, conventional power plants are facing huge changes in demand, rotation patterns and deployment - what consequences does this have for the management, maintenance and reliability of their energy supply?

A visit to Onyx Power' s Maasvlakte coal-fired power plant in Rotterdam is scheduled for Thursday, 26 September at15:30. Operating since 2015, this power plant is one of the most modern of its kind. But what happens to technology made for continuous operation if it is used very differently? And will there still be a future for such complex plants if coal-based energy is no longer allowed to be produced after 2030? After a tour of the plant, these and other questions will be answered. TenneT will also come and explain the challenges in managing the power grid in the context of asset management and market change. The visit includes dinner and ends at around 20:00.

You can register for this via the KIVI website. Participation is free for KIVI members and for students. PPE will be provided.

Make a note in your diary: Wednesday 23 October at 12:30 visit to HVC's waste-to-energy plant in Dordrecht.
