Plant manager Javier Alvares welcomed all the guests and started with the safety instructions, which are in force at this location.
Mr Alvares has 'only' been with DresserRand for eight months and wants to share with the group the measures he has so far taken and the effects of those measures.
To start, he shows a promotional film in which Dresser Rand introduces itself. Truly an 'eye opener' to hear and see, that this company is so big worldwide. Here in Spijkenisse, there is a maintenance workshop where all customers are served (even if they are not DR material).
Just that serving 'all customers' already poses a problem, because the quality standards for petrochemicals and those of a Spanish olive farmer (often cited by Mr Alvares), differ widely. It proves impracticable to maintain different standards in terms of quality, hence all equipment is treated with the same care and attention.
In his presentation, Mr Alvares talks about a large number of changes and improvements he has been able to implement over the past eight months, partly thanks to the excellent cooperation of his staff. Regular dialogue ensues during the presentation, with details being fleshed out.
An excellent 'bread meal' (which consisted of a choice of exceptionally tasty small hot dishes) was followed by a visit to the workshop where participants could see that what was shown during the theory was also true in practice. The people of DR were proud to show their skill of their company and very open about anything that could be improved.
If a minus point has to be mentioned, it is that programme because it was so lido interesting ran completely out of time.

In order to make existing and new processes more efficient, several LEAN campaigns have been launched with a focus on the Repair Shop. Specific administrative business processes have also been adapted or initiated to guarantee and safeguard the quality of the final product. This involves the entire process from the customer's request for services to the delivered product.
