Floriade pavilion Rabobank
Description
From 5 April to 7 October 2012, the world horticultural exhibition Floriade will take place in the Venlo region. It will be a sustainable, green experience event, focusing on the interaction between man and nature. Floriade 2012 is also a state-of-the-art platform for sustainability (cradle to cradle). After 2012, the Floriade grounds will form part of Greenport Venlo and will be sustainably developed. Both the entrance building to the Floriade grounds, the InnovaToren, and Villa Flora, the greenest office in the Netherlands, will be given a permanent function as a multifunctional knowledge and expertise centre for innovations in the agri-food sector and sustainability.
To show its commitment to global developments in the food & agri markets, Rabobank chooses to create a pavilion for the general public. The pavilion, which focuses on edutainment, is named: 'Rabo Earthwalk'. The Rabo Earthwalk is a half globe of size, which allows visitors to 'walk on the roof of the world'. The pavilion is located on the park section Environment where the impact of horticulture on living, living and working is central.
Because of the construction logistics, the Floriade grounds are divided into different sectors until the opening. Depending on the construction activities, a tour of part of the Floriade grounds will take place
