Lifetime determination of geosynthetics
Description
Due to too few registrations, this activity has unfortunately not taken place!
In 2009, a revised edition of CUR publication 174 "Geosynthetics in hydraulic engineering" became available (available free of charge via the link below). This deals with the application of geosynthetics in structures with a design life of sometimes 100 years or more. During that time, the geosynthetic must meet design requirements. The question was how to establish in advance that the geosynthetic is capable of continuing to perform its function during that long service life, taking into account the effect of ageing mechanisms of the geosynthetic.
The answer to that question is given in the recently released CUR publication 243 "Durability of geosynthetics", which incorporates all the internationally available knowledge and experience. The publication is intended for, among others, designers, specifiers and supervisors on the construction site.
The publication covers the use of geotextiles, geogrids, drainage mats, etc. in most civil engineering applications. To assist the Dutch user, Chapter 1 of this publication is also available in Dutch in slightly edited form. The complete English language CUR publication 243 "Durability of Geosythetics" , as well as a Dutch language adaptation of chapter 1 are available free of charge on the website below
