Investigation into IJmuiden locks bypass sewers
Description
The Noordersluis at IJmuiden will reach the end of its technical lifespan in 2029. The lock has also become too small for the ever larger sea-going vessels that pass through. A new, large sea lock is therefore being built at the entrance to the North Sea Canal. As part of this construction, tests are being carried out at Deltares.
During this activity, this test will be viewed. There will also be some presentations on the background of the project, the underlying numerical studies and the preparations for the construction of the scale model. The tests were carried out with the aim of demonstrating the hydraulic performance of two reference designs of the levelling system: doorways and bypass sewers.
