Description

The transition from maintenance contract to product-as-a-service leads to more sales and higher profits. Research shows that more and more industrial companies are deriving 25-35% of their turnover from servitisation.

The KIVI trade department CI organises its annual congress with the topical theme "Servitisation" on 29 October 2018 at the KIVI building in The Hague.
A development that can no longer be stopped and that raises the necessary questions for entrepreneurs and engineers.

Service business
Customer-oriented services around product sales are not new. Industrial companies offer proactive repair and overhaul services, spare parts and training in addition to product delivery. Service is changing from a cost item to a profitable business.
The transition is not easy. It involves a profound business model innovation.
The rise of the sharing and circular economy also reinforces this relevance.
The biggest challenge lies not in the investment of technology but in the changes of corporate culture and employee flexibility. It is a strategic change process from 'making' to 'integral service concepts'. Big question: how do you tackle that?

It is a strategic change process from 'making' to 'integral service concepts'. Big question, of course, is how to approach such a thing. On the one hand, real "engineering" knowledge is needed to see what opportunities the manufacturing company's products offer for their customers. On the other hand, "commercial" knowledge is needed to design business models that go far beyond the engineer's field of expertise. All kinds of uncertainties have to be overcome:
