Description

COMMUNICATING EFFECTIVELY WITH NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION

INTRODUCTION
When we meet a foreigner, we as Dutch people quickly tend to automatically speak the other person's language. Subconsciously, we do this with the aim that the other person understands us better and thus we communicate more effectively. As a trading nation, we have internalised this trait for many hundreds of years.
However when a rational person meets an intuitive person, it is not at all obvious that one of the two automatically speaks the "emotional" language of the other. The only thing they notice is that communication is not so smooth. Why that is, they are usually not aware of. So it would be helpful if one of the two could see what emotional drives the other. Is this rational, emotional or intuitive? In this example, we simplify the model: everyone is a mix of the three emotions; however, there is one that is usually dominant.
Nice story you will say but how can I tell which of these emotions is driving someone? This is where non-verbal communication can help you. The face tells us a lot about this, but the way you walk and the use of language are different as well.

PURPOSE
Course participants learn to assess the other person's emotional motive through non-verbal communication. Through this different way of looking at things, they learn to take this into account, adjust their behaviour and better appreciate what the interlocutor is saying.
The workshop uses supporting photos, videos and a DVD with an interactive PC training.
