Visit "De Rotterdam"
Description
De Rotterdam is part of the ambitious redevelopment of Wilhelminapier, also known as De Kop van Zuid, in Rotterdam.
De Rotterdam is being realised on Wilhelminapier. Between the KPN Tower and the Cruise Terminal on a site the size of about 1 football field, i.e. about 5,500 m2.
Rem Koolhaas' world-renowned Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) is responsible for the design of De Rotterdam. The design is particularly striking for its size (1 building totalling 160,000 m2), consisting of 3 transparent towers of about 150 metres in height. The space between the 3 towers is about 7 metres. There is a high degree of density (Floor Space Index = approx. 30).
De Rotterdam scores substantially higher than other new construction projects on the theme of 'sustainability'. On all possible fronts, in the design, the density, the mix of functions, the method of construction, the installations, the energy supply, etc... even down to the construction site, the ambitions to create one of the most sustainable buildings in the Netherlands are being pursued. The offices in De Rotterdam have now achieved the Greencalc A label. The highest possible score on this index. Meuse water is used to cool the building.

The De Rotterdam building on Wilhelminapier near the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam is currently the largest Dutch project under construction. Not only in terms of height, 151 metres, but also in terms of building volume, 162,000 m2 GFA. The building will soon combine living, working and leasure (relaxation) and is for this reason also called 'Vertical City' by designer Rem Koolhaas (OMA).
