Engineers are not trained in defence technology. Only the Netherlands Defence Academy (NLDA) has officer training courses focused on that and, recently, a technical master's programme. All other engineers who want to work in the defence sector have to familiarise themselves independently with the special aspects and complex network. Think of political control, secrecy and ethical dilemmas. For those who do not know their way around: a laborious and often lengthy job.
Total overview and network in a few days
KIVI Defence & Security is organising a course to quickly familiarize engineers with the special aspects of defence technology and working in the sector. The course is spread over several days spread out within a month at the KIVI building in The Hague, the Kromhout barracks in Utrecht and at Thales Netherlands in Hengelo, among other locations. Topics range from defence technology, the set-up of organisations involved and political control to equipment procurement, innovation and logistics. Defence in relation to industry, Europe and the world is also covered. Finally, the course is not limited to objective facts and rules, but also covers topics as important for defence as security and ethics. Differences of opinion within the sector are also addressed. There will be room for debate and discussion.
