Johan de Witt conference 2016
Description
Johan de Witt was one of the most powerful and intelligent men of his time. Together with Michiel de Ruyter, he managed to lead the Dutch navy to great victories.
Thanks to the successes achieved, the 'Dutch' people took the navy to their hearts. At the time, people knew better than anyone else the importance of the free sea. An importance that also deserves to be propagated further today.
Once a year we therefore pause to reflect on the legacy of Johan de Witt. Representatives from politics, industry and society meet to discuss maritime safety and its importance for our foreign trade. We then discuss modern problems in a classic manner. With room for contrast and respect for each other's opinions. The theme of this year's Johan de Witt Conference is 'What is the free sea worth to us?'
Dutch society floats on the interests of the free sea. But do we still know how to value those interests in the year 2016? Are we investing enough in people and resources to safeguard our maritime safety?
During the conference, we combine intriguing maritime stories with a substantive debate on the subject.
The conference takes place on the opening day of World Port Days and is the ultimate platform to make your voice heard, or to be heard. We will not only do this on that day, in the run-up to the conference, stories will be shared and opinions will be formed via social media, our new website marinemagazine.nl and the brand new P3M marinemagazine.
The Johan de Witt Conference is therefore the ultimate platform for opinions to be heard and heard online and offline!
