KIVI and KNCV section Dutch Process Technologists (NPT) is organising a meeting in Delft on Thursday 15 December next. The meeting will cover both (carbon) circularity and energy transition and how the two are related.

Walk-in from 15.30, hot soup will be ready. We will start punctually at 16.00 with the first three presentations, then a short break in the programme for sandwiches. Then the fourth and fifth presentations and ending with a discussion all together. End punctually at 19:15.

Target audience: anyone who already knows something about one of the topics (see below).
Purpose of the meeting: To give the participants an indication of the nature and scope of the issues in circularity and transition: what is possible now and what lies ahead, that there are many dilemmas, naming main dilemmas, what consequences certain choices in both topics have, what more to take into account when making choices and how to make well-founded choices.

The participants will be presented with a lot of food for thought:

a. some snapshots of current technical developments (especially CO2-related)

b. outlines of how we in the Netherlands could move from research to implementation to achieving climate goals

c. reflection on the above.

The following speakers and sub-topics are on the programme:

Hans Keuken on CO2 reduction (focusing on what we can already do by current means)

Vojtech Konderla on CO2 capture

Frank Wubbolts on CO2 conversion and a broad perspective on industrial transformation

Naomi Hanemaaijer and Bart Visser, both from Kalavasta, who will do a group exercise based on their carbon transition model and energy transition model

Gijsbert Korevaar who will address the multiple complexities of the issues from a technical-administrative perspective.

The crowning moment will be a discussion on the subject with all of us: speakers and participants.

Participants are expected to participate and think along. Because of the intended interaction, the number of participants will be capped at 30 persons, participation in order of registration. The setting, tone and atmosphere will be informal.

Location: OpenDelft, Vesteplein 100, which is about a 7-minute walk from Delft railway station. Easily accessible by bicycle and there is a parking garage (Zuidpoort) below ground level.

Registration: Via the KIVI website. Participation is free for both members and non-members.
