'Reach in business' seminar
Description
REACH which stands for the European directive Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of CHemicals has been talked about for years. This mainly concerns substances already in use. Basically a catch-up action because new substances already have an authorisation procedure.
It is clear that REACH will have far-reaching consequences for industry. Despite the fact that many information activities and seminars are already dedicated to it, many market parties still hardly realise all that will be needed to meet the requirements of REACH in the future. This goes far beyond just 'some testing and neat notification' of the substances one makes or imports.
The procedure for manufacturers is comprehensive: 'how can you organise that smartly?'. But it can also have far-reaching consequences for users. It can lead to restrictions on use and substances may disappear from the market altogether. Estimates are that this could be the case for 5% of substances. But if these are essential ingredients for your product, what do you do as a buyer and what are the consequences for innovation in general?
Furthermore, the REACH information will form the basis for a new set-up of substance classification and labelling, the Global Harmonised System (GHS), which will also eventually affect all companies. Almost all industries will be affected by REACH. This is why a broad programme has been chosen.
On Tuesday afternoon 20 May 2008, the Dutch branch organisation for Laboratory Technology is therefore organising the Seminar 'REACH in operation' with the cooperation of the NPT.
The lectures will provide insight into practice as it currently arises with attention to the practical bottlenecks occurring in very different areas based on already existing experience. There will also be technical and application-oriented contributions and 'tools' to optimise your working methods and choices.
