Municipalities have a major task in making existing neighbourhoods more sustainable. All new buildings are already becoming more sustainable, but the built environment must gradually switch to natural gas-free alternatives for heat. In this webinar, Martin Marquering of InEnergie takes participants through and explains what is involved in making an existing neighbourhood more sustainable. The focus will be on developing a local heat grid, which combinations of technologies and sources can be used in this and how residents can be involved in choices.

In the energy transition, the Dutch government is asking municipalities to take on a director's role for the heat supply of the existing environment. The Heat Transition Vision and Neighbourhood Implementation Plans provide a clear starting point for moving neighbourhoods towards future-oriented energy supplies. But how do you make these plans concrete as a municipality and what steps should you take?

Martin Marquering of InEnergie helps municipalities visualise heat solutions per neighbourhood and involve residents. He knows which collective and individual energy solutions are feasible for residents and, together with municipalities and neighbourhoods, takes steps towards local, sustainable heat facilities. Martin: "We don't just provide a report with texts and figures, but help municipalities and residents with concrete plans towards a future-oriented energy supply."

InEnergie, Martin's consultancy, has previously been involved in the 'Neighbourhood of the Future' project, natural gas-free projects with aquathermy, area developments with coupling opportunities, setting up legal structures for local heat companies and making new and existing neighbourhoods up to 5,000 inhabitants more sustainable.
