Due to Covid-19, the live theme afternoons we have been organising with and for our members since 2009 are on hold. To continue to encourage knowledge sharing, we are organising a new series of online knowledge sessions.

Each session lasts one hour. A number of speakers from the sector will give a presentation. During the session, questions can be asked via a chat box. For those who like it, we also organise an interactive online drink afterwards. We will make use of a virtual surprise chat service here

We have scheduled four sessions:

  1. Grid capacity: challenges and solutions
  2. Innovative alternative energy generation
  3. Hydrogen: the egg of Columbus?
  4. Smart (deployment of) heat networks

More information about the programme can be found below. You can register for one or more sessions using the registration form. Participation is free of charge.

Programme

Session 1: Grid capacity: challenges and solutions

Date & time: Wednesday 10 March 2021 (15h-16h)

  • Rik Luiten, Smart Energy NL, introduction and introduction of speakers
  • Patrick Groenewoud, Krado, 'Grid capacity in the Netherlands'

    • What challenges do grid operators face when it comes to grid capacity? And what solutions are they working on? During this presentation, Patrick answers these questions! He makes grateful use of his experiences at various grid managers in recent years.
  • Rob Jacobs, L'orèl Consultancy, 'Smarter use of energy'
    • L'orèl helps SMEs organise their energy use in such a way that as little energy as possible is consumed and energy generation and off-take are coordinated in such a way that as much as possible of the generated energy is used. Rob shares his practical experiences with you.
  • Haike van de Vegte, Firan,'Energy hubs: how does it work and what does it deliver?'

    • Energy hubs make smart combinations between the generation, storage and consumption of renewable energy. Independent of the regulated electricity grid, a connection is then created between solar and wind energy, hydrogen and/or heat. Energy hubs thus make an important contribution to grid capacity. Haike will be happy to tell you more.

Session 2: Alternative energy generation

Date & time: Wednesday 14 April 2021 (15h-16h)

  • Walter Hulshorst, Smart Energy NL, introduction and introduction speakers
  • Josco Kester, TNO Energy Transition, 'Building-integrated PV: your roof or facade as an invisible sustainable power plant'

    • Several products have been developed and launched on the market in recent years that allow you to generate energy 'invisibly' with the roof or facade of your house. Think of Tesla's Solar Roof that was launched with much media attention about five years ago. Where does it stand now? And what competitors are on the market? Josco tells us, among other things, that with innovative products it is possible to turn the facade of a house into a (sustainable) power plant!
  • Roy Osinga, Flower Turbines,'Small wind turbines for the built environment'
    • Flower Turbines makes wind turbines (1, 3 and 6 metres) which can fit into the built environment: quiet, efficient and aesthetic. Wind as a complement to the sun. They also make various on and off grid charging solutions for e-mobility (bicycles, scooters, etc.) and build customised energy solutions with sun and wind. Wind in the city, vital employees and accessible cities that is possible!

Session 3: Hydrogen: the egg of Columbus?

Date & time: Wednesday 19 May 2021 (15h-16h)

  • Rik Luiten, Smart Energy NL, introduction and introduction speakers
  • Rene Schutte, Gasunie, 'Vision of national hydrogen infrastructure'
    • Gasunie can have a national infrastructure ready for the use of hydrogen as a replacement for fossil fuels as early as 2030. Hydrogen is good to use as a raw material, fuel for industry and transport and possibly also for homes. It is easy to store in large quantities. This also makes hydrogen a good reserve within the energy mix of the future.
  • Sjoerd Delnooz, Kiwa, 'Hydrogen in the urban environment'
    • Network company Alliander and Kiwa are currently jointly building a hydrogen house in Apeldoorn. A training site set up as a residential house, where professionals can learn how to make the current natural gas supply in residential areas suitable for hydrogen. Sjoerd is happy to share the latest.
  • Tjardo Derksen & Jochem Garthoff, Kiemt, 'The essence of connecting'
    • Kiemt is a network organisation focused on energy transition, circular economy and innovations, of which hydrogen is one of our spearheads. Tjardo and Jochem would like to tell you more about the importance of connecting when starting, accelerating and realising hydrogen initiatives.

Session 4: Smart (deployment of) heat networks

Date & time: Wednesday 16 June 2021 (15h-16h)

  • Walter Hulshorst, Smart Energy NL, introduction and introduction speakers
  • Inge Albregtse-Wijgerse, Cooperative The heat directors, 'Sustainable heat as a battery'
    • In the coming years, a huge densification task will take place by building tall residential towers in existing areas. CHP with heat pumps is mostly the chosen solution for sustainable heat and cold supply. This brings with it a high peak power requirement and extra pressure on the electricity grid. Can this be turned into an opportunity?
  • Name follows, Province of South Holland, 'Smart heat networks in practice'
    • Several initiatives to realise smart heat networks have been started in the province of Zuid-Holland. During this presentation, the realisation of smart heat networks in Schiedam and Gorinchem will be explained. What can we learn from the projects?

You can register for one or more sessions via the registration form. Participation is free of charge.
