Introduction
The Department of Energy and Heat Technology, KIVI EWT uses as its guiding theme the sustainability of energy supply systems, whereby the adverse effects resulting from energy use, are reduced to socially acceptable levels and within socially accepted boundary conditions.
Important elements here are (Trias Energetica):
- Limiting the final demand for energy forms.
- Increasing the share of renewable energy sources (natural flow sources and biomass).
- Using fossil energy sources as efficiently and cleanly as possible.
Makes knowledge and developments accessible in basic disciplines (including thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and heat transfer) and in the innovative integration of knowledge in energy conversion, energy conservation, process integration and optimisation.
Offers (prospective) members opportunities to make contacts, exchange knowledge and experience and discuss with fellow domestic and foreign engineers.
Forms a network of knowledge and acquaintances working at universities, knowledge institutes, industry or otherwise interested parties.
The KIVI EWT board
- Initiates, (co-)organises and supports information meetings in the form of excursions, lectures, conferences or symposia.
- Promotes informal contacts in particular also between members from industry, knowledge institutes and universities.
- Makes social consequences of new technologies negotiable.
- Contributes to a limited extent to the training of young engineers.
- Provides information through the KIVI (EWT) website.
- Offers individual members organisational space, providing modest facilities for initiatives aimed at:
- Strengthen heat technology input in engineering issues.
- Promote knowledge transfer between industry, JTIs and universities.
- Contributes to vision development (long-term) and standpoint development (short-term) of KIVI, concerning the field.
