Rail subway downtown Breda
Below are the presentations of the lectures.
Description
At the invitation of Witteveen + Bos, the Dutch Geotextile Organisation, in cooperation with the KIVI Geotechnical Department, is organising an excursion to the railway subway at Doornboslaan in Breda city centre.
Geotextiles are being used in a rather unique way in the accesses of this subway. The implementation involves a foil construction in the wet in a limited space (U-polder). The foil construction and protective geotextiles will be immersed in a construction pit with steel sheet piling. The location in the middle of the city and right next to the railway makes the implementation a great challenge with many interesting aspects regarding the application of geosynthetics. In addition, there are many geotechnical aspects regarding construction pits, monitoring and soil improvement techniques (jet-grouting). Several NGO members are working on site. The excursion is co-sponsored by Breda municipality and contractor combination Rasenberg-Colijn.
Participating in the excursion is free of charge for members (NGO or KIVI Geotechnical Department). However, there are a few points of attention. PPE (helmet, safety vest and shoes or boots) are compulsory and you should bring your own. There is no P facility on site. We urge you to come to the Witteveen + Bos office by public transport. The meeting place is there and we will welcome you there at 13:30. The address is Willemstraat 28 in Breda. There are P-garages in the area where you can park your car for a fee.
Participants can register until 16 November via joop.groenveld@ngo.nl. The number of participants is limited (50 persons). Registration is therefore by order of entry. Full is full. Participants will receive further information after registration. We look forward to receiving your application with interest, on behalf of NGO, Witteveen + Bos and KIVI Geotechnical Division.
