A stable and durable foundation is the foundation of any civil engineering work. This session focuses on various innovative foundation solutions and implementation methods. The Foundations session will also make room for an explanation of the renewed Master's degree programme in Geotechnical Engineering.
Matteo Ambrosi & Niels de Vos (IQIP)
Matteo is a geotechnical advisor at IQIP, specialising in foundation installation methods for offshore and onshore applications. Niels is a programme manager at IQIP's R&D department, responsible for developing new foundation installation techniques and equipment.

This presentation theoretical and measured extraction forces during the removal of steel casings after concrete placement in driven cast in-situ piles. Using field data, Matteo and Niels analyse factors influencing casing extraction, including the impact of high-frequency, low-energy hammer blows, to improve understanding and optimisation of the installation process.
Ronald Brinkgreve (TU Delft / Seequent)
Ronald is associate professor at TU Delft and Distinguished Scientist at Seequent. He specialises in numerical methods and geotechnical modelling and has played a key role in the development of PLAXIS.

Ronald gives an insight into the revamped Master track Geotechnical Engineering at TU Delft. This programme combines fundamental knowledge of soil behaviour and numerical techniques with innovative digital learning methods and hands-on assignments that prepare students for the future of geotechnical engineering.
IQIP's presentation will be given in English, Ronald Brinkgreve's presentation will be given in Dutch.
