Description
The lecture has the working title 'Colonial architecture or Indonesian heritage?'. The presentation offers a (limited) overview of buildings from the colonial period and how they are treated in today's Indonesia. This is through a PowerPoint presentation of about 75 images, some with text included.
The speaker intends to make the material from the talk available on the website as a PDF document so that interested parties can download it and read the documentation.

Speaker(s)
Cor Passchier (1945) was trained as an architect at the Academy of Architecture. From 1972, he served as architect and director-shareholder in various architectural and urban planning combinations. Since the early 1980s, he has been involved in various projects in Indonesia as a publicist and architect-researcher. Among others: Inventory of built heritage of Bandung (west Java) 1988, Restoration of the eighteenth-century former national archive Jakarta 1998-'99 and the project 'The Identification and Inventory of Forts in Indonesia'. 2006-'10; in 2013 curator of the related exhibition at the Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam.
From 1983 to '89, he was vice-president of the BNA (Union of Dutch Architects; in 1991, he received an Award and honorary membership of the IAI (Ikatan Arsitek Indonesia). Together with 2 Indonesian colleagues, he was awarded the UNESCO Award of Excellence in 2001 for the restoration of the former National Archives in Jakarta (1765). He received the BNA tectotrope in 2002 and the Professor Teeuw Prize in 2007 for his contribution to cultural relations Netherlands-Indonesia.
