Energy Hubs as a contribution to energy transition
With great conviction, NAM is pushing for the formation of Energy Hubs. These are existing locations on land that are being made suitable to produce sustainable energy there in the future. One example is GZI Next in Emmen. Cooperation, reuse and integration are the keywords here.
Old NAM gas sites also offer opportunities to develop new forms of energy: the sites also have connections to the national infrastructure and have good facilities. An example is the site in Emmen that used to house the Gas Purification Plant (GZI). In a broad consortium, we are now developing this site into an energy hub, bringing together different forms of renewable energy such as green gas, hydrogen and solar energy.
With their experience, knowledge and expertise and the existing infrastructure, NAM plays a role in the energy transition. This goes hand-in-hand with gas production and requires its own approach and challenge in each region, which they take up together with the surrounding area.
