The design process of a car, a tip of the hat
'The design process of a car, a tip of the hat'
Wouter Kets studied Industrial Design in Delft and left the Netherlands for his graduation project at Audi Design in southern Germany. After a 15-year career as a designer in the German, Spanish and Chinese car industries, he returned to the Netherlands several years ago. Today, Wouter works as an independent designer and is a part-time university lecturer at TU Delft.
The design process of a car is a long and fascinating one. Just how does the design process work? How long does it take from first sketch to the new car coming off the rolling belt in the factory? How do you make sure the car is a success in the market? What are the latest developments in the automotive industry? Will the energy transition, for example, drastically change the lives of car designers?
In the lecture, Wouter will give a sneak peek into how this, generally top secret, car design process works.
