LW board member David van Raalten involved in the kick-off of the knowledge festival!
The upcoming knowledge festival "Do facts matter?" promises to be an interesting day! Do facts actually matter when it comes to topics such as climate adaptation, water quality and circularity? Or do you ever wonder to what extent your knowledge and insights contribute to good decision-making? During the knowledge festival 'Do Facts Matter? From gut to foundation' by and for water boards, knowledge and insights, struggles or solutions will be brought together!
Because water managers have a lot of knowledge. That knowledge is becoming increasingly important to properly implement the challenges we face in the field of safety, climate adaptation, water quality, energy and circularity. But do we use the available knowledge and insights sufficiently to support decision-making, or do we often allow ourselves to be led by our gut feeling? And why is that? To what extent do facts and knowledge help in actual decision-making? This will be the theme of the first STOWA knowledge festival organised together with the Drents Overijsselse Delta Water Board (WDODelta).
All water managers are cordially invited! As a researcher, policy maker or manager, you undoubtedly have to deal with Do Facts Matter? on a regular basis. This also means that it is not just about the water boards, but everyone from the wider water sector is welcome.
After the setback that it could not be held physically at the WDODelta office, because of Corona, the festival has now gone fully digital. Not for nothing, as there are already more than 500 registrations!
On the day itself, you can start the discussion during your breakfast, and even now in the chat boxes. You can already participate in that after registering on the website. Also, three podcasts are already waiting for you.
On the day itself, interesting speakers such as Vincent Marchau, Etiënne Rouwette, Anjo Travaille, together with Joost Buntsma, Daphne Depassé, Bert Palsma, and Maarten Claassen as moderators, and of course input from host dike reeve Dirk-Siert Schoonman, and instigator of the whole thing: WDODelta's Department Head of Research & Advice Auke de Ridder. But also many others from different organisations: see the multiple sub-sessions in the programme on the website.
Since our own LW board member David van Raalten will be co-chairing the kick-off, this is also a great opportunity to spread this invitation among LW members.
You can still sign up! For once, full is not full ...
Everyone is welcome, go to the website
