Background
The share and importance of safety management systems in the healthcare sector is increasing. The application of risk management is an important success factor in relation to better patient care and patient safety. More and more, it appears that attention to risk management in healthcare facilities lags far behind other sectors such as the energy and aviation sectors. Moreover, also compared to medical equipment manufacturers. It is clear that in the coming years more emphasis will be placed on risk management in healthcare by politicians and the inspectorate, as well as insurers.
