In this presentation on Damen's activities to design more environmentally friendly ships, we will spend some time on the drivers for these activities, like the well-known Greenhouse Effect and the turbulent world-energy-market. After this comprehensive introduction, an overview will be given of some of the technical and non-technical solutions Damen has come up with as an answer to the ever growing pressure to reduce the environmental impact. Hybdirs propulsion, air-lubrication, alternative fuels et cetera will be discussed
