Guided tour and presentation Heineken
Description
HEINEKEN Netherlands has three breweries: Zoeterwoude, 's Hertogenbosch and Wijlre. For KIVI NIRIA members, HEINEKEN Netherlands offers a look behind the scenes of the largest brewery in Europe: our brewery in Zoeterwoude. In 1975, this brewery and also the head office of HEINEKEN Netherlands were opened. Over 9 million hectolitres of beer are now brewed here every year. About 65% of the beers produced in Zoeterwoude are destined for the export market, a large part of which is shipped via HEINEKEN's own terminal in Alphen aan den Rijn to the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp.
In the bottling plant, more than 500,000 bottles are cleaned, filled, sealed, labelled and packaged per hour, with checks taking place after each operation. The amount of beer bottled in a day is about the same as the total annual production of the six smallest breweries in the Netherlands.
At the same time, the necessary casks, cans and draught kegs are then also filled.
HEINEKEN in Zoeterwoude employs over 2,000 people and brews about 25% of all Heineken beer in the world. The technically highly advanced Zoeterwoude brewery serves as a reference point for all HEINEKEN breweries in the world.
In addition, HEINEKEN has been implementing the programme ' Brewing a better future' for several years. In this programme, HEINEKEN fulfils its ambition to become the greenest brewer in the world. Numerous initiatives have been included for this purpose: for example, HEINEKEN has plans to build four wind turbines next to the brewery in Zoeterwoude to account for a large part of its energy consumption. Apart from innovative ideas and business cases, HEINEKEN's ambition naturally also has clear implications for the Supply Chain.
On 31 May, HEINEKEN will take you inside Europe's largest brewery in Zoeterwoude. During the tour, experienced HEINEKEN Team Leaders and Technologists will tell you all about their daily work and the entire Supply Chain of HEINEKEN beers: from grain to tap. Theme of the evening is the introduction of the Tap with an emphasis on sustainability.
