What does KIVI Department of Measurement, Control and Operation Technology (MRB) want?
MRB aims to be a meeting place for those who, as engineers by education, employment or interest, are interested in development and applications in the field of measurement, control and regulation technology. MRB aims to increase the knowledge and application of this field, promote contact between measurement and control engineers, and increase opportunities for members to keep up to date in their fields.
Domains
By its very nature, the field of MRB has many relationships with other fields. Measurement and control is generally not an end in itself, but is in the service of achieving a better result. Apart from knowledge in the discipline of ERA, it is therefore important to have good interaction with application domains. Therefore, most of the MRB members are active both inside and outside the actual discipline. The main sectors where MRB members can be found are
- the process industry in the broad sense
- the automation industry
- the electrical engineering industry
- engineering, design and consultancy firms
- the machine and metal industry
- research and science
What does MRB do?
MRB organises a number of activities every year, ranging from company visits, study days and workshops.
Communication with members
MRB is exploring options for active forms of communication with members, both subject matter and with regard to announcement activities.
Organisation
The MRB Section was formed from a partnership (SMRBT) between the subject section of NIRIA and the section of KIVI. Efforts are made to ensure that the aforementioned sectors are reflected as closely as possible in the composition of the board. The board meets several times a year and accounts for its policies at the annual meeting.
Collaboration between IFAC and DISC
KIVI MRB looks after the country membership of IFAC. For practical reasons, this is shaped together with DISC. MRB has a partnership with the Dutch Institute of Systems and Control (DISC). The following are organised within this partnership:
- The scientific director of DISC is authorised by KIVI MRB to act to IFAC as the Dutch representative.
- MRB is regularly provided with information on international developments related to IFAC.
- The courses organised by DISC are offered at a discount to KIVI members. See the course page on this website.
- The annual Benelux Meeting on Systems and Control, organised alternately in the Netherlands and Belgium, is open to KIVI members.
