Description

After the success last year, we would like to invite you again for another Meet & Greet in 2018. Many initiatives and activities emerged from our trade department's Meet & Greet on 8 February 2017. We would like to show you the results of these. Moreover, our trade group has welcomed many new members in the past year. We would like to give everyone the opportunity to get to know each other and the board.

There will again be plenty of opportunity to interactively exchange views on how we as engineers can contribute to making society more sustainable. We have also managed to find a couple of great keynote speakers who will share their vision and knowledge on topics that address current developments towards greater sustainability:

- Jos Cozijnsen, internationally recognised expert on CO2 emission rights
Developments (Paris, USA, China, Europe) in and opportunities arising from emissions trading and the contribution it can make to reducing CO2 emissions. The possibilities and limitations of emissions trading are discussed. After this lecture you will know how to get started with emissions trading.

- Bart van Beers, CEO Ingenia Consultants
Testing and the risk profiling of sustainable technologies: success and failure factors of projects with new sustainable technologies & biobased technologies. Timely application of risk profiling can prevent major disappointments.

Like last year, start-ups will pitch their sustainable product or service:

1. Maatschappelijk Lokaal Goed Bezig (MLGB): At neighbourhood level in the Netherlands, residents, local administrators and experts are working to make the neighbourhood more sustainable. Jan Assink presents how this originates and works.

2. Two students' view of their university's role in sustainability development: By Simone Hesseling and Jasper ten Dam of the University of Twente.

3. CIRCLES project University of Twente: Presentation from the thesis: We only have one earth; we should use our resources four times as efficiently. Marten Toxopeus tells how this can be done.

4. The sustainable fashion concept CeCe: By Melissa Wijngaarden and Noor Veenhoven.

5. Start-up company Leyden Jar by Arjen Didden: A new technology for the production of battery anodes that can increase the energy density of Li-ion batteries by ~50%.

The Meet & Greet (including drinks) will take place at Antropia, conference centre in Zeist, easily accessible by both car and public transport. We are going to make it an interactive meeting!
