Software-Defined Networking (SDN)
Description
Software Defined Networking is currently a very hot topic.
After the important trend of virtualising IT resources, the focus is now coming more towards automating the process of arranging IT Resources. The provisoning process of new IT environments now mainly still takes a long time because the network components have to be configured manually to a large extent.
With Software Defined Networking and Network Function Virtualisation (NFV), a large part of this provisioning process can be automated by disconnecting the control plane from the data plane in the network components on the one hand and virtualising traditional network functions such as firewalls, load balancers . Besides accelerating the Provisioning process, SDN also delivers many new innovative capabilities such as Cloud Services, Big Data services, Social Media & Mobility.
It is estimated that the global SDN market would grow from $360 Million in 2013 to $3.7 Billion in 2016. This themed session will cover: the fundamentals of SDN, Research activities on SDN and the vision of SDN from leaders in the networking industry. Some presentations will be in English
