Firefighter training
The firefighter training was a great success. 15 "pyromaniacs" had turned up for the fire training. As always, you start with theory first. We talked at length about the danger of lithium-ion batteries. Is an electric car allowed in an underground car park. Can the batteries spontaneously catch fire. The conclusion was: it remains dangerous. Next, our knowledge was tested using about 20 questions in Kahoot. Sometimes they were quite tricky. After an hour, the real work began: putting out fires. Simple at first, a flame in a pan. You put a lid on the pan and it goes out. Don't put a fire blanket on it because then you get a nice round hole in your fire blanket and the pan still burns. Then it was the burning rubbish bin's turn. A cinch you grab a foam extinguisher and it's solved in no time. We ended with a real fire, which shows that you shouldn't use water to extinguish a fire. Here you can choose between CO2 or foam.
I don't know if we became real firefighters but we know a bit more about it.

Fire training
We have scheduled a firefighter training session for the pyromaniacs. It will be held at Achterkamp Bedrijfsopleidingen in Baak. We will first receive theory lessons there and then we will get to put out fires.
When: Tuesday 23 August from 14.00 - 16.00 hours
Where: Achterkamp Bedrijfsopleidingen, Dambroek 20, 7223 DV Baak
What will we do:
Scenario 1:
Fire on the man + flame in the pan + gas fire with an injured person. The aim of the exercise is safety and appropriate action.
Scenario 2:
Search mission in a building filled with smoke. 2 persons go inside looking for letters, however this becomes difficult due to the smoke. Using walkie-talkies, they have to pass this on to the colleagues outside. These in turn have to make a map and put the letters in the right place. Purpose of the exercise, communication and orientation in a room filled with smoke.
Scenario 3:
Extinguishing a pallet fire with a tanker truck. Purpose of the exercise, awareness of the size of a fire and a look behind the scenes of the fire brigade.
Cost: € 15.00 for KIVI members and € 25.00 for non-members
