Digital Story Telling and Social Media
Description
The lecture will focus on 'Digital Story Telling and Social Media': how new technologies and a changing role of the audience, enable a new form of storytelling. And how that new form returns us to the essence of good storytelling: personal and unique, in an open dialogue with participating audiences. With many substantive and technological examples (from camera technique, to deployment of social and online media), and an honest account of advantages, disadvantages and pitfalls.'
Storytelling is booming. As a concept, as a way of life, as a cash machine for advertisers and broadcasters. We think Story, we are Social. Everyone is talking about it, some with an extra word pasted in front of it (transmedia storytelling, visual storytelling, digital storytelling), others use it as a loose slogan ('a piece of storytelling in the marketing mix'), but hardly anyone provides an explanation.
In 2012, speaker Martijn Winkler founded VERTOV. VERTOV is a sister agency of Coebergh Communications & PR, specialising in digital storytelling & social media. Our work focuses on connecting target audiences with brands through online stories that are engaging and relevant. We produce creative content for online and social channels and provide hands-on social media strategy, always focusing on good storytelling. We also often work in collaboration with social media or advertising agencies, and of course in close cooperation with Coebergh's PR strategy.
Our work has won several international awards, including Silver Dolphin in Cannes, the Gold SABRE Award in London and the Best Social Media Award in Amsterdam, and reaches millions of people worldwide.
