Presentation 10 years Roertunnel
After the tunnels opened, not everything went smoothly. Among other things, there were several tunnel closures as a result of security systems not working properly with each other.
Meanwhile, the connecting road is indispensable for Limburg. Since the tunnels opened, traffic on the A73 has doubled. Over the past five years, the tunnels have been open almost 99 per cent of the time.
The lecture on the A73 tunnels will be given by Mr Geert-Jan Schoones.
He works for Rijkswaterstaat as a crisis coordinator and tunnel safety consultant. He also has the necessary experience from his past as a fire brigade officer.
Subjects to be discussed:
- Reason for building tunnels + some history
- What makes tunnels special infrastructure
- The equipment in the tunnels
