Wind plan Wieringermeer ECN Test farm
The visit began with a welcoming reception with a sandwich lunch. Ms Marbel and Mr Jacco de Graaf, owner of the Farm, provided an introduction on its ins and outs. It is a traditional farm with potatoes, onions, wheat and sugar beet. But in addition, they are also an energy supplier. A 0.9 megawatt wind turbine turns its rounds daily and there are 180 solar panels on the roof of the barn. Jacco is also a board member of Windplan Wieringermeer. This plan provides for the rehabilitation of a number of wind turbines located near farmers. Together with others, a new farm will be realised so that the single windmills can disappear.
Piet Warnaar, Senior Business Developer ECN, then gave a presentation - see link to powerpoint file below - on wind energy developments at ECN. About 600 employees are currently working on this subject. This includes strategic and technological studies. Finding solutions to common problems with wind turbines and developing technology for prototypes. ECN wants to be the world's leading institute in the field of wind energy. Developments at sea are also a large part of this. With questions such as: How can we further reduce costs, how can turbines be further improved, what are the critical success factors in this, etc.? ? Finally, a visit was made to De Graaf's windmill and ECN's test farm.

KIVI Region North Holland is pleased to invite you to participate in a visit on Wednesday 15 March 2017 to a Farm/Energy Supplier and Wind Turbine Test Park of the ECN.
We will be welcomed with a drink and lunch. Following this, Mr J. de Graaf, Board Member of Windplan Wieringermeer and Mr P. Warnaar, Senior Business Developer ECN, will provide an introduction on wind energy developments in Wieringermeer.
After this introduction, we will visit the 0.9 megawatt wind turbine on the farm and conclude the excursion at the ECN's Wind Turbine Test Park at Schervenweg 35/A,1771RT Wieringerwerf.
