Masterclass: Are you the engineer ready to excel in human systems too?
For engineers leading or about to lead. Do you take the screwdriver or the mirror?
Imagine this: a team member makes the same mistake for the third time. You know exactly what goes wrong and also how you would fix it yourself. So. you grab the screwdriver and fix it for a while.
Problem solved. Right?
Not really. Because next week, this team member makes the same mistake again and the customer is back at your desk.
Many engineers who manage recognise this. You were promoted because you were so good at your job - and that is exactly what sometimes gets in the way of leadership. Not your knowledge. But your habit of diving into the content, when the real challenge lies: in behaviour, in relationships, in what happens under the table.
The good news? As an engineer, you have all the baggage to learn this. You are analytical. You see patterns. You understand systems. You just need to shift your gaze - from the technical system to the human.
In this master class, Inge takes you on her leadership journey - which culminated in the book '100 days into your organisation with a fresh look'. She wrote this book together with former NS director Rine van de Wiel.

We get to work on:
- Recognise what is really going on in your team - and what you may have felt for a long time but did not name
- Reading and influencing behavioural patterns: analytically, with feeling.
- When to leave the screwdriver at home - and which tools to use.
- Working with the mirror: reflecting on your leadership in situations you encounter every day
- Getting people moving instead of taking over the work
No theory to be left at home, but insights you can immediately apply to your own situation the next morning. You will of course receive a signed copy of the book to take home (this is included in the price of the master class).
Bio Inge van Kooten-Satter
Inge van Kooten-Satter is a technical business administrator (with a background in Agricultural Engineering at WUR), former manager and Master Black Belt. She worked at Quintiq, Vanderlande Industries and NS, and now successfully brings technology to healthcare.
She knows the pitfalls of technical leadership inside out and is an expert in recognising and changing persistent behavioural patterns.
In her books 'People make or break change' and '100 days into your organisation with a fresh look', she shows why change does not get stuck on technology, but on behaviour - and above all: how to deal with it effectively.
