Description

On 5 January 2011, one of the largest industrial fires ever in the Netherlands occurred: the fire at the Moerdijk chemical storage company Chemie-Pack in Moerdijk.
Many an engineer was glued to the tube on the evening of 5 January, following the reports and incoming information via the national media and local broadcasters. For a long time, it remained unclear what had happened there, although rumours were spread several times through the media. On 9 February 2012, the Safety Board of Inquiry released its final report on the causes.

Former board member Annabelle van Roosmalen, researcher at the Dutch Safety Board, was prepared to tell more about this. She will elaborate on the origins of the fire and the underlying causes during the lecture. The aim of the presentation is to highlight the Chemie-Pack case and the origins of the fire.

In addition to the presentation on the results of the investigation, attention will also be paid to the disciplines and skills involved in conducting the investigation. Material technical research, chemical technology, logistical knowledge, managerial knowledge, these are all things a researcher needs to master to find out the underlying causes
