After completing his degree in Applied Physics (TN ’80) at the University of Twente, Martin van den Brink was involved with ASML right from the very start. He played a key role in the company’s technological and innovative success. Among his many achievements is the invention of the ‘mask-to-wafer’ alignment method, which is still in use today. Van den Brink enjoyed an impressive career, rising to the positions of Chief Technology Officer and President, and in doing so helped shape the entire semiconductor industry. In April 2024, he stepped down as President and CTO of ASML, but he remains active as an adviser to the board.
