Saturday 20 May finally saw the long-awaited reunion - a top day! Some 50 former board members of KIVI Students Twente/Advanced Young Members East came back for a day in Twente with good spirits and lots of stories from the past. It started with coffee, krentewegge and a tasty lunch during which the various contacts were immediately re-established.

The first speaker was Hans Dekker, who was chairman around 1990 and we heard a number of amusing anecdotes from his time on the board. The very first chairman Harold Borkink was also present and he told us that the first board was formed in mid-1987, exactly 30 years ago!

This was followed by Alex van der Veen, the first manager of the KIVI Room, who explained that, thanks to warm contacts between the then president of KIVI Regio Twente and the Board of Governors, a KIVI Room was made available in Hall D in 1992. Thom Palstra, rector magnificus, then gave a talk on new developments within the UT, which of course included the important connection between the UT and KIVI.

It was a day full of variety as this was followed by a short brainstorming session on the future of KIVI, a tour of the Nanolab, a walk across campus and, on the way, a group photo at the freshly planted KIVI Tree of Innovation.

To conclude, there were drinks on the roof terrace of the Vestingbar, familiar territory for everyone. Thanks in part to the beautiful weather, people continued talking for a long time. And now on to the next reunion!
