The KIVI EngD Award recognises the exceptional achievements of EngD graduates who combine scientific rigour with societal and practical impact. Finalists for this award demonstrate excellence in applying advanced technical knowledge to solve complex industrial and societal challenges.
Entries are assessed by an independent jury, comprising representatives from academia, industry and civil society, based on the following criteria:
- Innovation – creative and practical solutions that push the boundaries of technology.
- Impact – demonstrable contributions to industry, research or society.
- Leadership & collaboration – inspiring teamwork, professionalism and the sharing of knowledge across disciplines.
By recognising these qualities, the award not only honours individual achievements but also highlights the unique contribution of the EngD programme to the Dutch innovation ecosystem.
