Dear board members and office staff of KIVI,
You received an email on 15 July 2020 from the KIVI Rules Modernisation Working Group. We would like to sincerely thank everyone who responded for the time and effort taken and share the progress with you.
From the responses received and the roles those members appear to fulfil in their social lives, it is clear once again how diverse our membership is and what knowledge there appears to be in the association. Once again, KIVI turns out to be a fantastic network, you only have to ask.
The regulations write down in part what we should and, more importantly, what we want to be. They are the laws and regulations of our association in which responsibilities and powers, which we as KIVI engineers found and consider important, are written down.
The technology we develop as engineers changes our lives every day, the young generation of engineers is different from the experienced generation and therefore tomorrow's day requires a different way of working together than when our regulations were written down. They really need an upgrade.
We started with the bylaws and were the furthest along with them. Statutes are strongly bound by laws and regulations, so not much will be able to change there. Moreover, amending statutes costs money because they have to be ratified by a notary.
We are working on the other documents and the progress can be found on the website www.kivi.nl/mkr.
Changing regulations is a slow process for two reasons. On the one hand because, outside the current corona emergency law, we are not yet allowed to vote digitally to make a decision legally valid. On the other hand, with only 2 member councils a year, because that means we can only amend regulations twice a year.
However, the adjustment to allow digital voting is now in the draft statutes. This will soon allow us to make legally valid decisions between physical meetings if we feel it necessary.

On 30 November 2020 to be presented by the main board to the members' council for the meeting on 14 December 2020.
Prior to the members' council, the final draft needs to go to the main board by 1 November for the HB meeting on 10 November.
Prior to that, we would like to have a final check by our reading panel in early October.
