On 25 January, those interested in corrosion met at the KIVI Maintenance Event "Corrosion and maintenance". The aim of the event was to connect asset owners, specialists and involved engineers. There were four speakers who approached the relationship of maintenance and corrosion from their own perspective. As usual, discussions were substantive and in-depth. After each presentation, there was an opportunity for a brief discussion.

The 4 speakers:

  • Daan Scheepens and Paul van Berkum of Standard Fasel on corrosion in steam boilers

  • Herman De Vries of BioClear Microbial Analysis on microbiological corrosion

  • Nils Verkleij of C-Cube International on predicting corrosion

Afterwards, everyone looked back with satisfaction on an intensive evening with many in-depth discussions that established new connections and brought everyone up to date with corrosion. A report of the event will be published in TIM around mid-March. The presentations of the various speakers can be found via the links below.

Description

The KIVI Department of Maintenance cordially invites you to the Workshop Corrosion and Maintenance.

----Addition to the agenda: contribution by C-Cube on sensing in corrosion--

The department has teamed up with Standard Fasel and Bioclear-Microbial Analysis to put together an interactive afternoon.

This afternoon has been organised for asset owners, engineers and stakeholders who want to prevent and understand corrosion.

Standard Fasel is a specialist in boiler construction and maintenance, among other things. The corrosion experts will tell more about their experiences.

Bioclear-Microbial Analysis specialises in microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC). It is a relatively unknown phenomenon among plant owners and engineers. This form of corrosion is very common in practice and can lead to very high corrosion rates. For example, in pipelines, storage tanks for petroleum or bio products. But think also of sheet pile walls and offshore wind farms. Using their innovative DNA Sampling, they can tell exactly whether micro-organisms are involved, which ones they are and what consequences this has for the installation. During the afternoon, we will dive deeper into the phenomenon of MIC, its measurement capabilities and control strategies.

You will be given the opportunity to bring in your own corrosion problem. The specialists from Standard Fasel and Bioclear-Microbial Analysis will be happy to include this in their workshops. If you would like this, please indicate it in advance so that we can take it into account.
