Ground (water) defences theory and practice
Description
Lecture evening on various developments and techniques in the field of soil (water) barriers.
About the lectures:
* CUR Handboek Diepwanden
In recent years, a lot of practical experience has been gained in the Netherlands with the installation of diaphragm walls and control of quality and monitoring of the implementation process.
* Producing cement-bentonite walls
The cement-bentonite wall is a water-retaining screen formed in the ground and used to limit horizontal groundwater flows to encapsulate pollution or reduce the impact of drainage on structures.
* Vibration-free installation of steel sheet piles
Steel sheet piles are widely used for both temporary and permanent soil (water) barriers, however, the jacking of sheet piles even using "low-vibration techniques" is not the most suitable solution for every location. There are various methods for pressing sheet piling into the ground and removing it again, these techniques have their own advantages and disadvantages.
* CUR Handbook Soilmix Walls
In 2016, the Handbook Soilmix Walls was released, the handbook reflects the current in the field of soilmix techniques for the realisation of soil retaining, water retaining and water inhibiting walls. The aim was to obtain unity in design and overview for quality of execution and aspects such as safety philosophy and risk assessment. Handbook Soilmix Walls changes this and presents a universal and pragmatic approach.
* Methods for executing Soilmix Walls
Perhaps the most well-known technique for executing Soilmix Walls is to make a CSM wall the Cutter SoilMix Wall, however, there are more techniques available for different soil types and soil composition. Bauer has several techniques available and has also researched the application areas of these different techniques.
