Pedestrian facilities: step forward?
Description
Pedestrian facilities are taken for granted in many municipalities. But how to pay more attention to municipal pedestrian policies? Is it looked at with a sufficiently broad - not just traffic engineering - perspective? Do municipalities make sure they have sufficient and up-to-date knowledge, or is this self-evidence a disadvantage in that respect? And how can things be done better? Does this require more research? And what role can knowledge institutions play in this?
The KIVI Traffic and Transport Section is organising a discussion evening on such questions. One of the reasons for this is the new CROW manual for pedestrian facilities 'Walking pays off', which will be published shortly
17.30 h Reception with aperitif and sandwiches
18.00 - 20.00 h Presentations and discussion
Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to tour the pedestrian and bicycle facilities in the Utrecht Centraal station area, which is currently undergoing a major renovation.
